Kathy Smith to run for State Representative in 111th District
http://www.thetelegraph.com/news/smith-58926-illinois-state.html

I encourage ALL of you to get to know Kathy Smith, her background,
principles and qualifications. I am wholeheartedly supporting Kathy in this
race for state representative.... and I am sure all of you will be interested in getting
to know Kathy, too,... if you do not already know Kathy, you will soon understand why so many people are
choosing to support her run for State Representative against Dan Beiser. Kathy is in this race for the "right" reasons,...
to be a public servant and a strong voice for the "people" in her district.
(She fortunately is NOT beholden to either party or the infamous Chicago Machine)

Kathy was a Senior Computer Analyst designing networks for Integrated Defense Systems at Boeing Aerospace from 1989-1996.
She earned her Master's from Washington University School of Engineering and her law degree from Saint Louis University.
She is currently in private practice representing small businesses and families. She is a Madison County Board member.
I am excited to be on Kathy's Team and hope all of you will join with me in supporting her race for state representative.
....... To help save Illinois from over spending, corrupt politicians who are in Springfield for themselves. I am not in the 111th District,
but that does not matter, I will still work hard for Kathy as her votes effect all of us and our families.
Go hear Kathy speak every chance you get and please give her your support.

WE Have an option in Madison County
Announcement:  Mike Babcock is running against Bill Haine for IL. senate seat.
Bill Haine, once again let IL. Tax Payers down in Madison County when he voted yes on the Tax increase in Jan. 2011.  Not only did that vote affect Madison County but all hat live and have businesses in this state.
We can no longer survive in IL. if they are sending our jobs out to other states and this Democrat controlled Senate is doing just that while the President and his cronnies stand and lie about  what they are doing to our jobs and freedoms in the rest of the US.  When does it end?  When we vote out the Dems and RINOS that are part of the problem and not part of the solution.
Chris Slusser is going for it!!!

SLUSSER TO RUN FOR MADISON COUNTY BOARD CHAIRMAN
Alton Telegraph, November 26, 2011

ALTON - A Madison County Board member announced his candidacy for Madison County Board chairman in a release sent to The Telegraph Saturday.

Chris Slusser, R-Wood River, was elected in 2008 in District 15, which includes Wood River, Kendall Hill, Roxana, Hartford and South Roxana. His 2008 platform was based on increasing transparency and accountability in county government and reducing property taxes. According to the release, Slusser said he has been "fully committed to those three issues during my term on the county board and they will continue to be my focus as County Board Chairman."

As a member of the County Board, Slusser has voted against every property tax increase and introduced measures to reduce property taxes. He also has been a watchdog and an outspoken critic of wasteful and questionable spending.

"As citizens, we've all had to tighten our belts and do without certain luxuries these past few years. County government shouldn't be immune to this reality," he said.

Slusser also proposed and successfully led efforts to place the county's checkbook online so that taxpayers could see where their tax dollars are being spent.

"It took some arm-twisting but when our checkbook finally went online, we were the first county in Southern Illinois to do so. Putting the checkbook online for everyone to see was the first step in transparency and accountability," he said. Slusser also wants to improve the online checkbook so that it is more user-friendly and easy to navigate.

"Madison County is still experiencing high unemployment, and with high property taxes, sky-high worker's compensation insurance rates and lawsuit abuse, we've created an environment that is hostile to employers and job creation. Madison County government should be part of the solution, not part of the problem. We're still operating under 20th century models which are inefficient and costly to the taxpayers. We need a cultural change and that starts with a change in leadership," Slusser said.

According to the announcement, Slusser serves as the chief financial officer for a commercial real estate firm after spending more than eight years as an investment adviser.

Slusser, 34, and his wife, Megan, have been married for six years. They attend First Baptist Church in Bethalto, where he serves as a deacon, assistant church treasurer and vice chair of the Stewardship Committee. He and his wife co-lead a small group for young married couples and coach youth sports in the Upward Sports program.

Slusser is the president of the board of directors for Riverbend Family Ministries in Wood River and is a volunteer co-facilitator at RAVEN (Rape And Violence End Now), an intervention program that serves the St. Louis region. In 2010, in coordination with RAVEN and Riverbend Family Ministries, Slusser and his wife helped start a non-violence education program at Riverbend Family Ministries for youth who have been exposed to or are prone to violence.

Filing for Madison County Board Chairman begins Monday and Slusser could be a potential challenger to current and longtime chairman Alan Dunstan, a Democrat from Troy.
